Finally saw Avatar. Computer graphics are amazing. But the story's just Dances With Wolves meets Fern Gully. :lol:

was lucky enough to catch the film "Agora" last night at the cinema, WOW! really really good! the roman soldiers however are wearing leather armour and possibly even leather helmets, but the story was just amazing, anyone not familiar with the film, its the take of Alexandria starting around 350 A.D. with the rise of christianity and the move away from the pagan gods, huge riots but eventually paganism is out lawed and things settle down until the jews get thrown into the mix then more fighting... very emotional film! behind all that though is the story of Hypatia the "first" notable greek female mathamatician and philosopher. kinda goes into her theories of 'gravity' although not called so its her ideas about the earth moving and trying to give reason away from the Ptolemy Almagest. The CGI work for the city is truely AWESOME! some scenes where you see the city alive are just stunning!! especially the work they did to recreate the great library!
anyways go see it yourself! great watch!

Last movie i saw was: The Passion of Joan of Arc (La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc from 1928 by Carl Theodor Dreyer).
Wow what an amazing movie. The performance of Renée Jeanne Falconetti is truly magnificent! This is why movies are made.

What a great film this is! The faces are simply amazing -- so expressive. Of course, the director cast these actors with this in mind and he uses them to best effect. It is a marvelous film, and along with the newly restored Metropolis, one of the very best of the Silent Era.
As for Dances With Avatar ...
It goes back even further than Fern Gully of Pocahontas. James Cameron is a fan of the old TV series The Outer Limits and borrowed from the series for some of his earlier films (Terminator has echos of The Demon With The Glass Hand and Soldier, both written by Harlin Ellison). Likewise Avatar seems to have echoes of the episode Chameleon written by Robert Towne (Chinatown) and starring Robert Duvall. Perhaps it only served as an early inspiration, then again...

thats the dvd i have! I watched it without music and with einhorn. I prefer with einhorn.
The complete metropolis will we available on DVD and blue-ray in november 2010 from Kino so i'm confident that the dvd will be up to their standards. Their website even has a trailer for it:

Isn't that the movie with Rachel Weisz? I have been waiting for news on it. I have yet to see Clash of the Titans I did like the original. I rented the entire HBO series of Rome from the local library I do like Pullo/Bors/The Punisher. The new Star Trek was pretty good too! I also have watched Doctor Zhivago withe Keairia
Knightly and Sam Neill. It was a decent one timer but such a sad ending!

Watched M.N. Shyamalan's "The Happening" last night. Oh, dear. I don't mind meandering, uneventful movies -- in fact, I quite like that sort. But I didn't notice the warning on the DVD case: "contains frequent suicide images and mild bloody injury".

I haven't watched it yet but am asking for review of "Red Cliffs". I have watched pieces of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and play alot of Dynasty Warriors so it is kind of like I am "frothing at the mouth waiting" for this movie :!: :!: :!: Thanks!

Starship Troopers 2. Please don't waste your time. I don't get it. They know bullets are not effective, but fire is. So they use fifty thousand rounds of bullets, and zero flamethrowers. Sigh.
