Mark Antony - Anonymous - 09-11-2003

There's a relatively recent biography by Pat Southern, simply called "Mark Antony", published by Tempus in 1998, ISBN 0752414062 for the hardback. It's a good summary of his career.

Primary sources: try Plutarch's life of Antony, available both in Loeb and Penguin classics ("Makers of Rome"). Plutarch is a C2 AD source, though, so he's not contemporary, but his pen-portrait is the closest in time to Antony. Cicero's letters and "Philippics" contain much enjoyable anti-Antony vitriol, explaining why the great orator ended up with his head on a spike.
Hope this helps.
