That date made me guess Falerii too, with Falerii Novi being built just a short distance away. And lo and behold: if I google on Falerii Novi, that arch on your picture shows up (Porta Giove).

Over to you, Jona :-)

Quiz - PhilusEstilius - 12-07-2012

What I found interesting about that theater is when you sit high centre at the rear you have a tremendous view of Etna.

Quiz - Flavivs Aetivs - 12-07-2012

The difference between the two is greek is 1/2 and roman is 2/3 circle right?

Quiz - Jona Lendering - 12-09-2012

Quote:The difference between the two is greek is 1/2 and roman is 2/3 circle right?
The other way round. Greek plays were focused on the orchestra (hence 2/3 round) and Roman plays on the stage (hence (1/2 round).

And the new question:

Well done, Byron! It definitely looks like the diolkos to me!

(I've been trying to sign in all afternoon -- does this happen to anybody else? Or just me? :dizzy: )

Quiz - Jona Lendering - 12-09-2012

Quiz - Flavivs Aetivs - 12-18-2012

If byron doesn't post can I do one?

Quiz - PhilusEstilius - 12-18-2012

Would this not upset the whole thread to do this for Byron does work off shore and may have been out of touch because of this reason.

Quiz - Robert Vermaat - 12-18-2012

Byron initially missed it, but he now knows it's his turn. Give the man some time.
