Hitler: Rise of Evil - miniseries - Anonymous - 10-12-2003

The miniseries has just aired in the UK. It features British actor Robert Carlyle (of Trainspotting and The Full Monty) in the title role. The miniseries covers the rise of a 20th century tyrant from the first world war through to the death of President Hindenburg.

Although I have read histories about this period, it is relatively untouched by dramatists. I cannot think of any good ancient parallels to draw against this period; there have been endless tyrants in the past and there are still a few around today. The given theme of "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing" is probably a universal truth.

Personally, I thought it was really good. Robert Carlyle was at his very best and the production was top-notch all round
I'd like to hear, how Robert Carlyle *sounds*, when he plays Hitler (but I guess I will only see the dubbed version).
---------------
