I have to say once again a thank you and also these are just fantastic and I'm sure indeed the new owner will be more that satisfied with such a very good quality in your work. Armillae - caiusbeerquitius - 02-02-2015 Very beautiful. =) What find are they based on? Armillae - Charlie - 02-02-2015 Thanks Brian and Christian. The armillae aren't based on any finds, pure artistic license for re-enactment. I know several Roman armillae have been found in Britain, though these seem to be narrower in width and usually have a decorative pattern, rather than motifs. In saying that though, I believe there was one found at Vindonissa with bull motifs. A friend of mine wanted some made with a generic Roman symbol.....so what better than the Aquila. Armillae - Pointer - 02-03-2015 Beautiful work you guys! Now excuse my ignorance... where was this worn? Wrist? Bicep? Armillae - Charlie - 02-03-2015 Thanks Patrick, and as far as I am aware they were worn on the wrist. |
