Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Evgeny - 03-02-2011 Please consider tailor my panel - Parma akvilifera. I beg to point out errors. )) Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Titius_VI_Legion - 03-09-2011 Very impressive group. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Evgeny - 03-21-2011 Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Hippeis - 03-27-2011 Here is myself and the other Romans in the group I am in, I am the one on the far right. That is me in my Roman Cavalry Impression, my alternate personality for re-enacting Sextus Laelius Lupus. I'm horseless at the moment, and I think I will be until I graduate from university and get a full time job in four years time  Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Bruno - 03-27-2011 hi, few pictures of my group ( bellum gallicum ) Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 03-28-2011 Quote:few pictures of my group ( bellum gallicum )Nice! That second picture, the yellow/orange parma, it looks very Late Roman? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Bruno - 03-31-2011 it is a speculation, the only late-Republican Scutum found is that of Kasr el Harit, but for a centurion , I think this move with parma is easier to give the order Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Publius Aelius Lucius - 04-04-2011 Photos from the last event "Kelten, Germanen & Römer" in the The Museum of Military History in Vienna. http://www.hgm.or.at/museum.html?&L=1 The Reenactors from ANS, leg XIII and Gentes Danubii http://gentes-danubii.at/neu/galerie/galerie2011/01HGM/index.html Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 04-08-2011 Very nice Martin! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Titus Martius - 04-19-2011 Me as optio of Cohors V Praetoria in Rome during Natale di Roma last sunday. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - A_Volpe - 04-22-2011 I'm seeing a lot of pictures now of reenactors with waist-sashes on the outside/on their armor - I don't know of any evidence that suggests this, did I miss something? Where are people getting this information from? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, I really don't know and would like to know where people are getting that from. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - FAVENTIANVS - 04-22-2011 Indeed, I've also seen it in some late Roman groups. I'm sure they have found iconographic evidence of that. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 04-23-2011 Heres a useful article on the fascia ventralis from Arma. http://www.mcbishop.co.uk/arma/arma3-1.pdf A lot of evidence from the early tombstones. In fact I wore one today at the Passion Play at Bury. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - A_Volpe - 04-23-2011 But my question is on the supportive evidence of a fascia worn -over- the armor. When not in armor, as seen in tombstones, if it could be said in "off duty" or "dressed down fatigues", then yes, a sash makes plenty of sense, and I've worn one on my tunic for a while now - But I am unaware of anything that shows a sash being worn over [maille] armor. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 04-23-2011 No problem. Heres the Vacheres warrior. Of course there is always the argument as to whether he is a Gaul dressed in Roman style, or a Roman cavalryman, etc, but... From in front , showing belt design And from the side showing the fascia ventralis worn under the belt over mail. |
