Here is myself and the other Romans in the group I am in, I am the one on the far right. That is me in my Roman Cavalry Impression, my alternate personality for re-enacting Sextus Laelius Lupus. I'm horseless at the moment, and I think I will be until I graduate from university and get a full time job in four years time :lol:

it is a speculation, the only late-Republican Scutum found is that of Kasr el Harit, but for a centurion , I think this move with parma is easier to give the order

I'm seeing a lot of pictures now of reenactors with waist-sashes on the outside/on their armor - I don't know of any evidence that suggests this, did I miss something? Where are people getting this information from? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, I really don't know and would like to know where people are getting that from.

A lot of evidence from the early tombstones. In fact I wore one today at the Passion Play at Bury.

But my question is on the supportive evidence of a fascia worn -over- the armor. When not in armor, as seen in tombstones, if it could be said in "off duty" or "dressed down fatigues", then yes, a sash makes plenty of sense, and I've worn one on my tunic for a while now - But I am unaware of anything that shows a sash being worn over [maille] armor.

No problem. Heres the Vacheres warrior. Of course there is always the argument as to whether he is a Gaul dressed in Roman style, or a Roman cavalryman, etc, but...
