Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Crispvs - 03-16-2012 "And yes, you have every right to point that out." Nicus Maximus, Have no fear. I think we would all agree that the job you have done on his kit is top notch. My own son only has soft kit. I was just pointing out the matter of the straps by which the pugio is attached. In all other respects - keep up the good work! "But then again: how many 13 yr olds do you know that wear a kit like this, know more about the history of Rome then many do, and are proud to be a mini legionairre?" Well, having read Connolly's 'The Roman Army', Webster's 'The Imperial Roman Army' and an abridged edition of Gibbon when I was twelve, I certainly knew a lot more than most of my teachers about the Romans when I was at school, but I had to make do with a very bad cardboard 'Hollywood' Roman outfit to dress up in, to be replaced later on with a mail shirt made of hundreds of ring pulls from drink cans. I certainly never had anything like what you have produced and I can only think of a handful of boys who have had - all of them the sons of re-enactors. Again I say well done! Crispvs Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 03-19-2012 Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - agrimensor - 03-19-2012 nice Jef. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 03-19-2012 Looking bling Jef! As always! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Kai - 03-19-2012 Spiffy shot, Jef! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 03-20-2012 Looking great Jef! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Virilis - 03-20-2012 Looks great Jef! "a fitting helmet is where it all starts" unknown roman soldier. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Alexand96 - 03-20-2012 Bravo. I really like the helmet with crest/feathers configuration. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - PhilusEstilius - 03-21-2012 Jef. That is very impressive indeed. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 03-21-2012 Thanks everyone! I'm very glad with how the helmet turned out. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 03-21-2012 Did you do it yourself, or is it a Polish helmet? Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 03-21-2012 English-English-Belgian in fact. Dave Hewitt from White Rose armoury did the iron parts of the helmet. He does excellent custom work and his prices are very good in comparison with the competition. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - IGNATIUS LARRASUS PROFUTURUS - 03-21-2012 AVE Last Saturday I took my first pictures with combat equipment. Me and my group(Propugnatores Barcinonenses) are new and we have much work ahead, we have to complete and upgrade equipment but I dare show my current look. Our unit is Ascarii Seniores,Auxilia Palatina, serving in Hispania.
