I discoverer that if you wear good linen and then a fine woolen cloak you can bear the heat. The most difficult part is the helmet that is totally exposed.
Natural materials let you "breath".

Kind regards

People in the deasert are also known to wear much clothing that as they say protects them not only from the sand, but also from heat.

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - hoplite14gr - 06-19-2007

Its a fact Yannis. Layers of clothing keep the "internal" temperature steady.
Kind regards

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 06-19-2007

Probably because the air captured between the layers acts as a very good insulation.Well, the fact that even a single cloth protects the metal parts of the armour from sun heat is obvious!

Looks like a good time was had, despite the heat. Smile And those shields are just beautiful.

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Hoplitesmores - 06-20-2007

Actually the authorities tried to make it as annoying as possible but it was expected. It was good but to tell you the truth we all just got angry at the authorities behaviour. We understood that if they had realized we would be there they would have not allowed us to attend. The bystanders liked it, the maniates liked it everyone liked it except some of the politicians that made the police spoil it just before the end.

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 06-21-2007

Just a small correction Gioi, those guards are not royal,no king in Greece you see. They protect the Greek parliament. And they almost certainly did not act by themselves but by someone's higher orders.Doesn't change anything really...
Politicians react because they're afraid Hoplitikes Mores is some kind of religious group.Re-enactment never existed in Greece and those "tsoliades" or others with traditional clothing are not considered re-enactors.The clothes are usually of an association or of the state and do not belong to the wearers. Not to mention that they represent a time that is connected with Orthodox chirch which is the current religion,so nothing strange on people's eyes.
