Found this picture of a belt draped over the back of a shield while studying the larger picture. I'd say it's embossed leather, nice image of pattern and buckle.

The leather work has been done from a fellow Celtic Re-enactor in the US, Terry Sebolt from illustrations of 'my' interpretation of the belt design frowm what I can make out on this terrible little image above, and I have constructed the buckle from bronze.

Quote:I'd say it's embossed leather, Why not stitched decoration? Since most of the "celtic" stuff is quite colourful, why not the belt? Very nice repro!

First godd work!
Stiched or embossed. Hmm thats a good question. The glauberg leather findings were probably embossed an after that painted with white. We have a lot of colourfull textile fragments but not mich leather. I think both is ok.
