Lacing loop help!
#16
Quote:Matt, are those pliers the same thing as seamers?

Gosh, no idea, sorry! I just bought them because they were the tool I wanted--didn't matter to me what the non-historic world called them... Mine aren't the highest-quality example, by the way. One of my legionaries has a pair with much sturdier steel jaws and a multi-jointed construction for more leverage, very nice tool!

Valete,

Do they look like this? They're called "IRWIN Vise-Grip® 8R 8" Locking Sheet Metal Tool" (although there are probably other sizes, and certainly many "knock off" Chinese copies)

I have one set (ought to get another) and the "jaw" is about 2 1/2" (7cm) wide. They would work just fine for the folded over bit on that sort of lacing loops, and they're dandy for holding hinge plates in place, too.

Cool tool.
