Actualy our second Provocator and our Secutor did retire this year, but our new guy - the one without kit - will start training as a Provocator this season and we will shortly have a comeback from our other Provocator who was injured in a traffic accident last year.
So there are enough Provocators to go around soon.
We also wouldnt pair a Provocator with a Thraex, as there is no depiction of that pairing, but there is a later flask showing the pairing of a Provocator with a Murmillo, which we have tried out in the past.

that is one giant crest you have there, titus martius, love it I'm really happy there is a section for gladiators in this, and especially pics of all of you! While I am not a gladiator myself, there is one individual that is a gladiator that fights with us in my legion (yes I know...they didn't fight in the legions like that, but it's SCA, and he wanted to fight and be a gladiator). At any rate, I'll be sure to post pics of him when he gets all his gear made!
My first submission on of gladiator fotos from the recent Ancients assembly vi near Lismore NSW Australia.
BTW., We all wore tunics as it was not a show. Collectively we are the Ludus Infamos.

Well, we're not really historically-accurate at this point, but here is an album of some of us of Gladiatura Kentuckiensis practicing on 20 July 2013. Foam weapons, wooden shields, silliness, exercise, and fun.
We are Collegium Potus. We are from Denmark,
Here are some pictures from a gig at the archaeology center in Lejre.
