I wanted to see Caos Calmo, being in a philosophical mood and hoping to see some European art house pseudo-intellectualism. Unfortunately, it was sold out, so we switched to Wanted, not really knowing what to expect; but until now, we had never seen a movie with Terence Stamp that was very bad. As I said: until now.
Mediocre acting, poor story, and action scenes that were too spectacular - impossible to make sense of them. The twist in the story was predictable. Waste of money, and I would almost add "waste of time" if I had not been there with one of my best friends, who is always delightful company. Today, she surprised me by announcing that she had found a new job. So, a nice evening afternoon, in spite of bad film.

But at least you're alive to still watch bad films
I watched half of Diary of the Dead before giving up on it. Normally I can watch any old horror but the characters were annoying, extra annoying, I didn't care if they got munched.

Almost forgot, last week I saw 2001. A Space Odyssey. It remains one of my favorites, and I even wrote a little article on it that some of you already may have seen: go here.

LOL....and was it worth the money?
I just watched "Forbidden Kingdom" with Jet Li and Jackie Chan. A predictable, cheesy movie, but worth the money spent in the entertainment value.

that was my opinion of the Last Legion..... i felt like i'd just watched a prequel to Disney's Sword in the Stone lol
Honestly this is the first "serious" film i've seen Colin Firth do.. he's always played the straight man in comedies and now he gets to be a tough guy.. kinda lol

I watched "Mamma Mia - The ABBA Musical". After I've seen the thing on stage here in Hamburg with German lyrics (which were against my expectation very good) I got to see it now with the English lyrics. Meryl Streep was very good in the leading role as Donna, she was one of the best singers among the other actors.

It's a production by a German company named Stage Entertainment, which is a daughter of Stage Holding. It usually makes very good musicals. Even if you have (like me) a dislike of musicals, it is easy to admit that they put up a good show, with good singers and dancers, and good music. Value for money, certainly; although I admit that it is not the type of show that I will visit if I can choose. But who am I to disagree when my friends go there?

Kurosawa's Rashomon - something I should have watched before! Wonderfully philosophical as well as a great study on judgement. And there's no excuse to not watch it, as it's rather short.

The Mist
Based on a Stephen king piece, surprisingly good (not a King fan). Well worth a watch, and with a great ending. Excellent visual effects as well, but they don't overpower the film.
