I'm horseless at the moment, and I think I will be until I graduate from university and get a full time job in four years time :lol:

That second picture, the yellow/orange parma, it looks very Late Roman?

it is a speculation, the only late-Republican Scutum found is that of Kasr el Harit, but for a centurion , I think this move with parma is easier to give the order

I'm seeing a lot of pictures now of reenactors with waist-sashes on the outside/on their armor - I don't know of any evidence that suggests this, did I miss something? Where are people getting this information from? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, I really don't know and would like to know where people are getting that from.

Indeed, I've also seen it in some late Roman groups.



I'm sure they have found iconographic evidence of that.

A lot of evidence from the early tombstones. In fact I wore one today at the Passion Play at Bury.

But my question is on the supportive evidence of a fascia worn -over- the armor. When not in armor, as seen in tombstones, if it could be said in "off duty" or "dressed down fatigues", then yes, a sash makes plenty of sense, and I've worn one on my tunic for a while now - But I am unaware of anything that shows a sash being worn over [maille] armor.

No problem. Heres the Vacheres warrior. Of course there is always the argument as to whether he is a Gaul dressed in Roman style, or a Roman cavalryman, etc, but...
