Show here your Roman soldier impression
Thanx my friend!

In fact, My mum will paint a Neptune inside Tibisius scutum, because the front also has aquatic decoration.

I took the sizes from Simon James Dura Europos Book, 100x80 cm. I'd have liked to make it dished but I ain't that skilled Cry

FAVENTIANVS,

Wow, that's mind-blowing :o

I think you're the first reenactor I've seen to have plumbatae stored behind his shield. Do you think you could still attach them if your shield was dished ? I'm not sure how that could work :?

If they are shorter, I don't see why not. Vortigern have'em as well, in his other flat shield, but they are longer than mine.
You won't know until you try it yourself  that's why re-enactors are for, experimenting! so, go ahead!

Hmm...I have to get plumbatae first. Yeah, making them shorter seems to make good sense. Thanks for the tip.

Vortigern,

Very nice 8)

On both of your shields it looks like the plumbatae are held by a metal bar or a leather strip.

Actually, I know (of) at least four reenactors with plumbata in their shields:
Leg XIIII (UK), I think Crispvs is the owner, Rob from the Batavi, then Ivan and myself. All flat shields, but I'm working on shorter ones behind my dished shield. Not a problem.
Yes, Mine are held with a leather strap. A bit loosely anyway, because I figure they were not carried to march with but to be distributed just before battle.
