NEWSTEAD VERSION LORICAS...any updates?(formerly Corbridge)
#1
Hello All

My name is Drew Young. I am an armourer, costumer and profession speaker. I take my projects very seriously, and wish to make the final piece as accurate as possible.

I am well versed in Medieval armour, and well familiar with Greco-Roman 'appearences' in so far as I know when I lorica was used or what the Dendra panoply is, etc. However both Medieval and Ancient periods, while obviously connected, contain so much information its daunting ...but I am and always have been fascinated by Roman military history.

So, here is my first project and question to you all....

I am intersted in making a late 2nd century legionary.

Ive read various accounts that the H Russel Robinson Newstead lorica info is now a bit out of date due to newer studies.... Can soneone suggest some studies I might consult before constructing this harness? (Im not up to date on new Roman armor publications)

Im sure Ill have more questions as I go...its my first shot at Roman armor... and while it looks easier than a 15th century harness.....Im not going to underestimate the project as looks can be decieving!

Much obliged Gents!

Drew
