Aquileia Gallic G. reconstruction
#16
Very nice!
Will look very good with correct color matching red tunic and shield.
(if the Roman Army wore other colors the helmet decorations would be a different color)

Nice stuff, Ade, well done!!!

What did you use for the coral? Real coral or some sort of substitute?

It's ended up looking suspciously like my helmet! Any reason?

No, I've always wanted to see a reconstruction of the Aquileia helmet, it just happens to have a similar appearance to the way Simkins did your Gallic E! Love the red inlay helmets!

HI Adrian I was in Venice last year and my friend took me to Aquileia where I had a look at the original, however I've got to say it's just great to look at the complete finished article. Very good job indeed!!

Ade, I think you missed my question: did you use real coral or imitation coral?

Great Big Grin

Were can you buy such stuff? I think the coral used in some of the Roman helmets is now protected so some other species of red coral should be used.

Ebay!

I bought two sizes of dyed coral beads and ground them down to just below 'half-round'.
