Just go to the area or forem that is closest to what you want to ask (like a
armour forem to ask about what type of armour would have been warn) for
the period you are researching and post a question, you will get lots of help
as there are a vast group of people here who are very knowledgeable and will
love to help you.

Hello Members,

I have done re-enactment for the last 11 years and while most of the time it has been 14th Century Tournament, I have also done 1st crusade Knight Hospitaller and Icelandic Vikings.

This year I have put re-enactment aside and have started Fiore School of Medieval Defence, while the site is a little out of date http://www.fsmd.com.au it should give you a bit of a feel for what I do. Our goal is to do all the art equally and not become good at only one weapon. I also hope to get into Asian Martial Arts (again) next year for both skill and fitness.

I also run http://www.historicevents.com.au a medieval events company (having time off right now).

Here is a vid http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk6KyAMJjQU

Of late I have been looking into gladiators and I’m now trying to start a gladiator troop here in Victoria, Australia.
(Australian groups please contacts me off list if you’re interested in a national gladiator effort)

I have been talking to Ars Dimicandi as they seem the closes to the way I fight and they have been very helpful.

While I really like history, I’m diffidently in it for the Martial Arts these days as I think recreating the styles of combat before guns, shows us a very different side of history.

Thanks for reading my post and see you in the Gladiator Topic.

Thanks for the welcom,

@Fortuna: Stein is far from Offenburg, 150km!. But we live in a global village

@Iohannes: The answer is in your question. Is an alamannic in the time of 350-420 an federate or an enemy? My answer is an image of a soldier who is now an federate by the romans and tomorrow he don´t now ... 8)
All by the founds of the allamanic settelmens in my neighbourhood!

So long!

Wassail again Serapio!,it looks like we have a lot in common as my character is that of an Angle War Leader during 400C.E,serving Rome as an ally(for much GOLD,of course  )and he was formaly a"Marine" of the Imperial Fleet(or what was left of it,over here),perhaps we should join forces and depose the Emperor   ,many thanks for your answer and may the Gods go with us...Ioannes.

Hello all,

After following it for some time I finally got around to joining this forum.

I have been involved in reenactment for over 20 years and been a wargamer even longer. I have run the Rusland branch of the New Varangian Guard here in Brisbane for over 16 of those years.

I have a particular interest in byzantium of the epoch 950 - 1204.

Hello, my name is Dick van Heusden and i live in the netherlands.
I work in a historical themepark called Archeon. I work in the prehistoric part of the park, but from time to time you can find me in the roman part, where i'm also one of the gladiators.
My interests lie in the bronze age, the iron age and the roman period.

Good morning. I am a lover of ancient Rome and I am Italian.
I live in Augusta Taurinorum. I have a web site offering copies of sculptures of art ( www.caso4.it/english/ ). In the site, there is a section about the ancient Rome. If you visit my site, I am happy. Thank you in advance, best regards, AVE!
