I really like this short video. It was worth all the effort, for sure. Laudes to all who helped with this! (but expecially Marc Sanders and his ' crew'.)
Hopefully we can have a bigger event in 2010 nad rebuilt thise part of the wall (and maybe even more) using better wood and without having to remove it after the event.

But why all the waffling? Surely Marc could have made a version without me?

Yeah. In the end we didn't get building permissions from the city of Nijmegen, so it had to be gone after the event was over. We're currently triing to get building permissions, so we could rebuilt it at the next event.
At least we have learned a lot from this project, and some major things that should be done another way next time.

Well, apart from my blabbing, I think it was the awesomest reenactment thing I ever saw!

hock: Wow!
Excellent work.
As we all know this is how soldiers spend the majority of their time -- not in combat but on work details or trying not to die of boredom.
How long did it take you to restore the park to a "Pre-Roman" condition as requested by the City?
Great video.

It's amazing how fast you can tear something down with some heavy machinery...

Wow!!
....very impressive, but having to remove it.....how wasteful, not to mention expensive ! hock: hock:
...does the reference to 'heavy machinery' mean that the timbers were not salvaged for re-use?
Where is some info ( in English, plse! ) on the model used, the planning, the construction methods, time taken and all the myriad other things learned.....(hint! hint! D )

Yes, it does. We're not terribly saddened by it though, the timbers weren't exactly hardwood. If we do get permission to rebuild, we'll have to find actual oak somewhere, which will make the entire project more expensive, heavy, difficult and awesome.
For more photos of the construction, check my blog series.

I'm very busy with a lot of other stuff (like the financial part of the event, school exams, etc) but I'm working on that! There'll be a link on RAT when it's ready for sure!
