But my question is on the supportive evidence of a fascia worn -over- the armor. When not in armor, as seen in tombstones, if it could be said in "off duty" or "dressed down fatigues", then yes, a sash makes plenty of sense, and I've worn one on my tunic for a while now - But I am unaware of anything that shows a sash being worn over [maille] armor.
