Marc Antony\'s Eighth Legion (LEG VIII)
#1
I am trying to find information with regard to Marc Antony's eighth legion, which, as I understand it, was raised for the Battle of Actium and was disbanded after Antony's loss to Octavian.

Where can I find out more information on this legion's composition, role in the battle, leadership, etc relative to Antony's other legions. Is there a web source or print sources that might point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide....

Ave, Sly,
According to RomanCoins.info Anthony's 8th cannot be linked to any
Imperial legions. Also checked Livius.org and found a little on the
8th under Octavian but that's about all. Sorry.
Maybe someone has better sources( these are some of the best I know).
Good luck.

Most of Antony's many legions are only known through a very few inscriptions, but mostly Antony's famous legionary series. They just mention each legion and that's it.
Greets!
