Hi all guys. I have a question for you. What pugio, among the different models offered, can i use for an Early augustean period reconstruction? What do you think?
Thanks

Thanks for the pugio info!
Concerning the gladius, you are right, it is the same impression, i have twisted the search to a more accurate hispaniensis, but...if i remember correctly, the last known hispaniensis dates from 20 BC (France), just the aproximate period i am reconstructing (maybe a little later), so...it is possible that shorter and more modern blades were replacing the longer hispaniensis at that time? (Sorry that this is a little off-topic...)

Yeah, maybe you are right. I like the one from Binsfeld, but he did not respond to e-mails (apparently he takes his time to answer). I also have always liked the "Allectus" from Albion...Mainz-type gladius is probably my preferred sword of any time, both beautiful and vicious-looking.
Keep in touch

Mainz or Fulham?: Bear in mind there's a growing opinion there's actually no distinction between the two, and the Fulham is simply a Mainz type that had more grinding over a long period. If in doubt, stick with a Mainz or Hispaniensis, though.
