Quote:...I had the same problem when I tried to get photos of this, compounded by the auto-focus on the camera picking the perspex as its subject of choice. :x Couldn't get the manual focus to co-operate either, so good pictures!

These were taken with the static image option on my video/dvd camera and came out surprisingly well!

I hope to be up at Arbeia in November again for their conference. They offered before to take the dome off for me but the person responsible was not available at the time (holiday). I might get lucky next time!

Yes, I think my video camera would have better results too!
Hope you get your clear shots, makes life a lot simpler! Smile

Re: Arbeia mail shirt - arklore70 - 09-09-2010

I was just able to look at the article on the find.
it was written by A.T. Croom, with contributions from D. Sim and K. Barker back in 1997.

At the time of the writing of the article, they believe it to actually be a 2nd Century find. There is no evidence of a doubler and they believe that the shirt has short sleeves. The solid rings might actually be welded, but have a diameter of 7mm and the riveted rings have a diameter of 8mm. Thickness is from 1-1.8mm for the rings. They believe it to be a complete shirt.
