Re: New recruits - sally - 04-14-2008

Oops, been merrily posting and hadnt introduced myself. I'm Sally, I know I know at least a few of you already  and I've been re-enacting for about 16 years now. I trained as an archaeologist and have research interests in cosmetics, aromatics, dyes, textiles plus a tendency to go off at a tangent and want to explore any other topic that takes my fancy.

I'm probably best known for work on cosmetics from a Roman perspective, but I'm also currently exploring feltmaking at this date and am planning on working that up into a useable and pausible 'on site' activity if I can iron the kinks out of my references.

Re: New recruits - Titus Cincinnatus - 04-14-2008

Avete omnibus!
I'm Claudio, an italian reenactor in the mefieval and roman era.
I saw, some times ago, this beautiful forum and, after a little time, I've decided to introduce myself.
At this moment I'll take my time reading all the posts is possible, but I need time because, if I understand english almost completly in the meaning, it's not my first language and I need time.
And I apologize for my bad english, but I studied for only five years in my school time Cry

I'm a member of two reenacting groups: the first is in my city, Parma, and is called Mansio Templi Parmensis ( http://www.mansiotempli.net/pagina_principale.htm ). We try to recreate the Order of the Temple in the 2nd half of the XIII century.
The second is Legio I Italica ( http://www.legio-i-italica.it/ita/default.htm ) a group who rapresent the roman army in the Imperial age, first century AD, and in the Republican period (200 BC circa).

My interest now is more focused in the army and in the gladiatorial fights also because, in cooperation with my sister, who is a reenactor herself, I'm working on a comic serie set in the Year of the Four Emperors and sequent years and the protagonists are a group of legionaries, maybe of Legio I Italica Big Grin , and two (or three) gladiatrices (maybe not the famous and unknown Achilia and Amazonia) with their gladiators fellows.

Valete!

Re: New recruits - richsc - 04-15-2008

Hi Sally, I have your book, "Artifice of Beauty" which we use for reference in Legio XX (my wife anyway). Glad to have your expertise!

Re: New recruits - Abenadero - 04-15-2008

Salve,

I am a 25 year old man residing in Wisconsin, originally from Europe... I came across these boards, looking to join a roman reenactment team in the state of Wisconsin or looking to get one going. Smile

Pm's appreciated.

Re: New recruits - RadcliffeV - 04-15-2008

Hey. My name is Zach, I'm a 23 year old writer, and head of marketing for www.purgatoryironworks.com . I love history, and I came across the site totally by accident.

I hope to one day start a video game company that utilizes the pages of history as the primary theme for it's subject matter, but marry that with good and intuitive gameplay (like KOEI but without all the ridiculousness and watered down rehashing).
