Horatius At The Bridge - Q Rutilius - 03-30-2003 The topic America: a new Roman Empire, got me to thinking about life in our modern age. I'm 51 and I have seen things change greatly. When I was kid we were introduced to this poem about 5th grade I think. Horatius was a kind of symbol about how a citizen of a Republic behaved; so was Cincinnatus,who was as I recall compared to George Washington.
