Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Peroni - 02-25-2008 Caballo recently commissioned me to re-fit one of the Deepeeka Burgh Castle ridge helms for him. Robert Vermaat kindly supplied the Berkasovo II cheek guard stencil. Here's the result.. Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Peroni - 02-25-2008 Padded cheek guards... Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - aitor iriarte - 02-25-2008 Adrian, The cheek-pieces are a real improvement. I'd like to see a frontal view to check it better, though. :? The neckguard is untouched and, of course it continues being totally awful :x Aitor Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - gaiusseptimiuslucianus - 02-25-2008 Peroni, Nice job in making a not so great helmet much better. I did a similar thing to the old cavalry version of the Deepeeka helmet. I tore out all the old leather, made a lining, fiddled around with the nasal, dished the cheek pieces a little and cut down the neck guard quite considerably. I ended up taking off nearly 3cm along the bottom edge of it. These modifications, while certainly not making it perfect, at least go a good way towards making it better. Regards, Lucianus Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Franklin - 02-25-2008 Agreed, this is a cheap mod to an off-the-shelf helmet with some really positive results. Good Job - Caius Valens - 02-26-2008 Hi Peroni I have two Late Roman Helms One a heavy Calvary Ridge helm ,One a Basic Infantry Ridge helm, Will you be offering a service of correcting helms ? If so I may have some work for you. Cheers Caius/Thomas Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Caballo - 02-26-2008 I think the neck guard has been worked on- compare these pictures from the Armae site. I'll be picking it up from Peronis at our Saturnalia on Saturday- can't wait! Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Robert Vermaat - 02-26-2008 It actually looks like a new helmet. Well done. Picture from the front to see the nasal? Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - aitor iriarte - 02-26-2008 No doubt, Caballo, But the suspension system is totally cheesy: there should be two pairs of superimposed slits on the neckguard... Aitor Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Caballo - 02-26-2008 Thanks Aitor. "there should be two pairs of superimposed slits on the neckguard... " I'm having difficulty visualising this- (lack of a 3D brain!) - do you have some pics? Thanks Caballo Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Peroni - 02-26-2008 Quote:But the suspension system is totally cheesy: Yeah! thanks Aitor! that's easily remedied. Inow know what he means paul. I've just forund a pic of the rear of the Berkasovo lids. I'll do it for the weekend for you. Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - Caballo - 02-26-2008 Cheers mate! Got to be worth a laudes!! Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - scythius - 02-27-2008 Nicely reworked! Re: Deepeeka Ridge helm re-fit.. - aitor iriarte - 02-27-2008 And here are those on the Deurne helmet: Look at the buckles' shape, always semicircular. Aitor |
