Gary Gygax is dead - taira1180 - 03-05-2008

Gary Garyx, one of the creators of D&D (and the RPG's) died yesterday. It's a sad new for everyone who played rpg's.

I prefer other role playing games, but...yeah, D &D was great. Cry
We are in great debt with the D & D creators, they made multi-faced dices spread along the world. Big Grin

what a concept the rpg. i include alot of roman flavor in our game. all good men must pass into elysium, pray someone put a coin in his mouth!

Re: Gary Gygax is dead - Senovara - 03-06-2008

Haha, bravely admitting that you still do gives a Laude.

 ok, I did play RP tabletop games last year -- it wasn't D&D (was LOTR, I know, big surprise), but D&D was the precursor to all the new games we see today, including RP vid games!

*goes back to LOTR Online*

Re: Gary Gygax is dead - Iagoba - 03-06-2008

I´ve got the project of a campaign of "Pendragon", based on a group of late Roman cavalrymen going to Britannia from Egypt, under the command of his former leader in the Army, who comes back to defend his birthplace...that´s it, from Roman troopers to medieval knights...

And yes, without D & D I cannot imagine how this could be possible.

Re: Gary Gygax is dead - A_Volpe - 03-06-2008

Yeah, very sad.

As I understand it, he was still hosting gaming nite once a week at his house up until January of this year.

I was glad I got to meet him once. The event was a bit of a train-wreck of Geekery/Fantasy vs. Academia...but it was interesting nonetheless.

I think his work and with TSR et al. is part of a catalyst for what we do now as "reenacting" and living history.
