Lamellar cuirass & belt... - Virilis - 07-12-2008

Hi there!

Here is my new lamellar cuirass. To my surprise my wide late roman belt sits very tightly with it. I just need to make some kind of subarmalis with it...

Very impressive! 8)

When did you get it...and the belt?

Thanks Byron Big Grin !

I got the lamellar a couple of weeks ago from these guys:

I was a bit afraid ordering at first because I had a VERY BAD experience a year ago when ordering a cuirass from another vendor Cry ! Fortunately this time I am very happy with the cuirass and the service. Recommended!

The belt I got much earlier from the one and only "Primus Paulus" (Paul Mullins). Highly recommended too 8) !!

Definately looks the part! Look forward to seeing the subarmalis!

Thanks! Any suggestions on the subarmalis? I was thinking about a linen dark blue one with pteryges perhaps. Also with good padding on the shoulders...

I was thinking Pteryges, along those lines, would look good with heavy quilting of the shoulder/chest area! Blue would be the business!

Unfortunately I cannot help with images, as they are in my head.

Let`s see what I can do  ! All ideas are appreciated...

Hey, this rises a question: What kind of pteryges / subarmalis would a late roman soldier have had? I know the issue is controversial even with earlier types, so what are the possible options Confusedhock: !?

I am toying with an idea of a subarmalis with some kind of rounded padded collar...
