Wilrijk 20 September - Marcus Mummius - 09-21-2008

This weekend we had our last public event of this season. The weather was very good Big Grin

Other groups present were Corbvlo, Legio X Equitata and the celtic group Desmumnach.

We finaly got most of our new shields ready. They are linen and rawhide covered and painted with home made caseÃ¯n paints.

We also did two mock combats against the celts present there (we used fake pila and wooden swords). There is a small video of this fight but we still have to figure out how to get it online...

Here's the short movie of one of the fights we had (against some outnumbered, but very frenzied celts). This was made with a photocamera, so the quality isn't great.

To our defense I can add that we used wooden swords and they used steel weapons (spears and swords).

One of the celts was taken to the hospital, though... Concussion, perhaps a small skull fracture (got bumped in the head by a scutum)...

Hmmm, you sure it wasn't the one who was being whacked in the head repeatedly :?: :wink: :lol: That looked pretty sore.

No, that one was 'okay' Smile

In the film you can see one of the celts stumbling over one of their fallen warriors head. The one lying down is the one that was concussed. I don't know if this stumbling could be the cause of the injury...
