Quote:I have a question for all of you who used felt in your subarmalis . . . how does it do in the heat? I live in an area (the US Midwest) where it gets very hot and very humid in the summertime, and some wools are ok (in fact, some are great summer-wear), but some are an absolute disaster.

How does it feel, wearing multiple layers of felt around your body core?

Until now I survived without too much discomfort Smile

Last year I marched in the sun through Rome with a 40 degree fever, a wool tunic, on top of that a subarmalis with two layers of linen and 4 layers of felt and a bearskin on top of that. You just have to make sure you drink a lot and all will be okay Smile

Hydration is key. I've been into athletics and outdoors activities long enough that I'm fully aware of that.

I have finished the edging of the subarmalis itself, now I'm busy with (the edging of) the shoulder pieces.

I've been wearing it on a really tiny event (you don't want the details, we almost died of boredom; about 50 visitors  ), and it fits quite well. Only I should get a slightly smaller tunica I suppose, as all this extra fabric isn't really comfortable to get under the subarmalis. But if I can "spread" it good enough around my body, it'll do I guess. Smile

Hours and hours and hours... but it was worth it.

I didn't work on it for about a month, but a holiday can do wonders... Tongue lol:

Looks great Sander. If it's my size you'd better start watching your back, a gladius thrust is so easily misplaced

Great job!

Finally my new subarmalis with pteryges got finished. I really like how the design looks in the end. Big Grin
Note that I put it on with little care as I just received it from our groups dressmaker, so my squamata and phalerae aren't that nicely alligned. Also I had to tie up the tunic and take off my pants of course. But yeah, it was only for a quick picture. Next to improve in my centurio kit is the helmet.

Wow Jürjen, looks great Confusedhock: ! It has a kind of "Graham Sumnerish" flavour to it too  ...
