I'm not a re-enactor, fhaggis, but I know the Antonine Guard are based in Scotland -- their web site is rather secretive about exactly where! (I assume they must be somewhere in the Central Belt.)

Re: Scottish Group - Gaius Longius - 02-22-2009

Hi fhaggis,

You could always try Kev Rhynas's Ninth Legion they are up your way.
http://www.ninthlegion.co.uk
Worth a try.

Gary.

Hey FHaggis! As Gaius has said, the Ninths a Scottish based group.. we're mostly based in Aberdeen however.. i dont know how feasible that would be for you to commute to?! but you'd be more than welcome to come along to an event and see what you think!

Our next event is at Archaeolink ( www.archaeolink.co.uk ) on the 29th of March where our base camp is located... 29th should be a relatively big event as its the Archaeolink Open day.

Again as Gaius stated www.ninthlegion.co.uk is our website this is still under heavy construction but should be finish by the end of this week but feel free to private message me haggis!

Cheers

I have no idea how some of you from that area wish to be called...I'm sure if I had said British or UK someone else from a different region would have protested.

"I'm not British! I'm Welsh!" and so forth...So you'll have to forgive me if I'm not up to speed on the current state of national labels in that place we shall henceforth call "the island north of France" lol. 8)

I can't help noticing that you hail from America, Matt. Oops, I meant the big country way north of Mexico. Big Grin

As far as Scotland's concerned, it's pretty straightforward. Things haven't really changed since 1707! Big Grin

Looking forward to seeing your completed web site, Kevin.

Technically I am American...so what do people who live just south of Scotland call themselves?

Re: Scottish Group - PhilusEstilius - 02-24-2009

Matt. I think there is a problem where many people in the UK want to consider themselves as English or Scottish and indeed Welsh, however I tend to think that these are many who would take the Great out of Britain. I myself come from that part of Britain between the Scottish boarder and the river Tyne known as GEORDIE LAND otherwise known as Gods' Country.
