Old Sarum 30th/31st August - Medicus matt - 09-02-2009

Britannia had an encampment and put on a couple of displays as part of English Heritage's multi-period event at Old Sarum in Wiltshire. We were lucky enough to have members of both Letavia and Foederati over from France for this event, a chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

Roll on 2010! Big Grin

Re: Old Sarum 30th/31st August - Bran ap Maclou - 09-02-2009

Hi !

Yes, it was really great and a pleasure to meet you all. We enjoyed the way of Britannia to do the show both fighting safely and entertaining the audience with a good scenario. All Dan's words during the briefings and debriefings of the battles stay carved in my mind for our future needs. We really have to increase our profesionalism level. Great lessons, great pleasure and we have only one thing in mind... to do it again.

Now, we are waiting for the pictures and movies.
And for whom who don't know the hillfort of Old Sarum that's really a great place to visit (not so far from Stonehenge).

Once again, many thanks to Britannia who invited us to that joyful festival, I still have stars in the eyes two days after.

Bye

Greg

Yes, that was really an excellent event, one of my best re-enactment experiences so far. Thanks you guys for inviting us, and let's start the count down for 2010

Glad to have had you all there.

Just thought I'd share this picture from the weekend....my moment of victory as I place the helmet from Honorius' slain messenger on my head. 8)

Finally figured out how to get back on here,

Great site, great weekend, great battle, biggest I've seen for a while, 15-20 a side was it? the public loved it and still stayed to watch us even though it was raining fairly hard. Great to meet the French crews, can't wait to meet you all again next year for the 2010 celebrations. Saw the Dalek sitting on top of the mound (why did no one photograph it?) Shame it was ruined by a snotty nose.

You couldn't see it to take a photo, because most of the time it was swamped by kids
