Rings with double spiral ends - Lucius Antonius Aquinas - 12-04-2009

Hi!

Just finished my latest project. Nothing big just a handful of double spiral end rings that were used in Scandinavia from roman iron age to the end of the viking period. The material used was bronze.

New rings to come as I'm currently studying the Luistari finds from Eura, Finland.

Would these also have been made at finger ring size or were they only made larger as armbands, it looks like you have had these tinned or are they silvered.
They look very neat indeed in there scroll work I like them.

They aren't made as armbands at all, only as finger rings. Though it must be said that in some graves rings were found at the feet end of the grave and were used as toe rings, while some rings were used as dress decorations. Both genders used same type of rings but men used probably only one.

The rings are just highly polished, it's just the light that makes them look silvery.
