Envy - Jona Lendering - 04-12-2010

It is pretty hard to be impressed by those forty centuries looking down upon you when you're standing near the pyramids. There are only people trying to sell you worthless souvenirs. This man found an escape route, but the Egyptian authorities did not allow him his tranquility.

What kind of award does this man deserve?

It used to be possible, long time ago. There are nice photos of English lords, having lunch on the summit, sitting down calmly. Poor servants, who had to carry everything up: chairs, food, parasols.

What is the official reason you cannot climb the pyramids anymore? I can imagine a suicide possibility precaution, but there must be some other reason why only Hawass and consorts are allowed to climb it......
