AD1 - more Romans on the telly - mcbishop - 09-21-2002

The UK's Channel 4 is running a Roman season of programmes and has a section of their website devoted to it:

As ever, if you live on the wrong side of the pond, you'll probably get most of the progs on one or other of your factual channels in due course.
Re: AD1 - more Romans on the telly - Gashford - 11-08-2002

Hello all,

Just flying the flag for LEG II AVG. The reenactors in the Vespasian filming where the UK, LEG II AVG. You can find them here: www.legiiavg.org.uk

The character playing Vespasian bares an uncanny resembelance to the statues and busts left of the Emperor. you have to see him in the flesh to truly appreciate just how similar he looks.

Again though this was another one of those, days of filming hardly anything used in the film shoots. Still we had fun while we where there - I was there witha couple of the guys from Ludus ( www.ludus.org.uk ) making up numbers and a cameo
All the best
Vespasian - Matthew Amt - 11-10-2002

Avete!
If this is the show about Vespasian that I've heard about, Vespasian is played by Dan Hight of Utah, USA. He's heen having WAY too much fun jaunting over to participate with Legio II Augusta and other groups. I'm looking forward to seeing this show, but being cable-deprived I'm hoping that one of my legionaries can tape it for me!

Drop me an email at home with a mailing address and I wil gladly send you a copy over, but beware that it will be a UK VCR which I think can have issues running on American systems? Not an impossible problem though I am asure.

You are right, it is Dan, he did a great job being editor to our gladiatorial games, although he had a shine for red heads, which meant one of our ladies was winning just about all the time!
All the best
Just wanted to send along a reminder from Vespasian himself, aka Dan Hight:

"The Man who saved Rome" will be on the History Channel on December 30th, 2002, at 9 pm eastern time (USA).

Completely forgot to mention this in the latest Legio XX newsletter, so I promised Dan I'd mention it here.

Enjoy, and Valete,
