Are there any sources and researchea about the fate of Chstian and Romanized poulation of Northern Africa (=Maghrib) after
Arabian conquest? When did it ceased to exist?

I read that many were of the Donatist sect who rather quickly converted to Islam after the conquest. On the other hand, the subsequent history of other parts of the Caliphate shows a rather slow conversion process taking several centuries (even today 5-10% of all Arabs are Christians), something which makes the talk of an "Islamic world" at least until around 1000 AD rather presumptuous.

But in Maghrib Christian population totally Islamized. What where the reasons of full dechristianisation of this region (contraty to Syira, Egypt etc.)? Whe did Islamisation ended?
