\"Yorkshire\'s Greatest Living History Festival\" - John Conyard - 06-26-2011

Last week I received the publicity for "Yorkshire's Greatest Living History Festival" 30/31 July at Sledmere House.

This event has grown out of a small event Comitatus did there back in 2009. This is certainly now the major multi period event in the north of England north of Sheffield, and promises to be larger this year.

There will be Knights doing their medieval thing, 17th century English Civil War battles, plus late Romans. We'll be bringing our horses and generally enjoying the excellent venue.

Sledmere House & Estate are just 7 miles northwest of Driffield, a scenic 25 mile drive from York, 19 miles from Scarborough and just 10 miles from Beverley. It lies on the B1253 where it meets the B1252, north of the main York-Bridlington road.

Yes, we keep top billing but not the main photo Cry

It is a lovely place and my family enjoy it there. But the best bit for me is openening up the front of my tent in the morning and having breakfast with the family watching the horses grazing in the paddock right in front of us.

It was a brilliant sunny weekend. The crowds were big and appreciative.

The weather was great!
My new tent was perfect for task, and the shows were fun.
I have good video but obviously cannot post it on here due to the limitations of
downloading, unless someone knows a trick ot two?
