Belfiglio - A study of ancient Roman amphibious operations.. - Dan Diffendale - 05-01-2004

Has anyone seen A study of ancient Roman amphibious and offensive sea-ground task force operations by Valentine J. Belfiglio, Edwin Mellen Press, 2001, and if so, can you offer comments?
Thanks.

Yes, I have.
In my opinion Belfiglio reasons a bit too much from modern practices. He basically first explains how contemporary amphibious operations are planned and executed in phases and then overlays that on the ancient sources. It's not a bad idea, in principle, but I think he's a bit too optimistic about the possibility of doing this in ancient times. It's handy in so far it mentions the few sources for a number of large amphibious operations, but for $80 it costs new, I wouldn't recommend it too heartily.
Greets
