Boudica Movie - joeandmich - 08-25-2011

So if they made a big budget movie about Boudica who would you cast in the lead role? Who would you cast in supporting roles?

Re: Boudica Movie - Epictetus - 08-25-2011

I would cast Angelina Jolie as Boudica, simply because I have a huge crush on her, and, if I were a Hollywood producer, I would have no conception of the realistic age, behaviour, accent or appearance of the historical Boudica. This means she would be dressed in a bearskin bikini and spout off modern pop culture references as she smote her enemies.

Re: Boudica Movie - M. Demetrius - 08-25-2011

Well, Roseanne Barr and Joy Behar are out, so I think I might put Merryl Streep or Andie McDowell as Boudica with Nicole Kidman and Mary Louise Masterson as her daughters.

Alex Kingston....because frankly she's owed another go.

Re: Boudica Movie - joeandmich - 08-25-2011

How about Julian Moore she's a redhead?

Re: Boudica Movie - Nathan Ross - 08-25-2011

Frankly the idea of anyone making a film about Boudica brings me out in a cold sweat - it's so fraught with potential horrible nonsense.

Having said that...

Nah - the daughters would be about 12-15 years old. Saoirse Ronan's a great actress, but it's hardly a starring role. Unless Mel Gibson's directing, when that scene would probably last about half an hour Confusedhock:

She does (did?) have the right look, if only they'd change her clothes and stop her waving a sword about...

Alex Kingston = 'Warrior Queen', 2003.

Never in the field of Human culture have so many mistakes been made by so few!

Even 'The Viking Queen' was better and I never thought I would ever say that!

As Nathan says Alex Kingston appeared to have been a good choice but after that nothing else was right about that production.

Graham.

Emma Stone would make a lovely young Boudica as well.

Re: Boudica Movie - Virilis - 08-25-2011

The president of Finland, Tarja Halonen, definitely...

Very scary

Re: Boudica Movie - Narukami - 08-25-2011

Perhaps the President of Finland would be better cast as Roman Governor Suetonius ...

As for Angelina ... When she finally finishes post on her directorial debut film she is slated to star as Cleopatra in a new film based on last year's book bio written by Stacy Schiff.

Of course, if one did cast Angelina as Boudicca, then I would cast Jennifer Aniston as Suetonius -- the fireworks, both off screen and on, would be worth the price of admission. Hollywood Grudge Match.

Narukami

Graham.

That was rather my point. Excellent actress, excellent casting, wasted opportunity.
The Jolie woman is too skinny. She'd snap.

How about Mila Jovivich? She always plays a badass in her movies especially in those Resident Evil ones. She's very pretty too and look good with red hair.

Re: Boudica Movie - Medicus matt - 08-26-2011

Ahh yes, good call. Now if you had Jovivich then you'd have to let Luc Besson direct....so Jean Reno for Suetonius!

Although she's married to Paul Anderson now...who's making a film adaptation of Robert Harris' 'Pompeii', so I'm guessing she'll be in that.

Re: Boudica Movie - joeandmich - 08-26-2011

I say Tim Roth should play Seutonius. This way we have a Roman with and British accent and a Britain with an American accent.
