Berlin\'s Pergamon Museum - Epictetus - 10-01-2011
There is an article in the Wall Street Journal about Berlin’s Pergamon Museum.
Quote: Now Berlin's Pergamon Museum is expanding that window with a year-long show called "Pergamon: Panorama of the Ancient Metropolis." With some 450 objects, this is the most comprehensive museum show ever mounted about Pergamon, which dominated the Eastern Aegean between the death of Alexander the Great and the rise of Rome. (The heart of the ancient city was near present-day Bergama, Turkey, about 60 miles north of Izmir.)
The show, which opened Friday, combines sculptures, coins, mosaics, and ceramics, and features an enormous 360-degree panoramic re-creation of Pergamon itself, as it is thought to have existed in A.D. 129, in a specially constructed silo in the museum's forecourt.
The exhibit includes items borrowed from Naples and Rome’s Capitoline Museum. It seems pretty impressive.

Seems I will have to plan a trip to Berlin
Has been some time since I was there, so, sounds like a good idea anyway.

While you are in Berlin you should not visit only the Pergamon Museum (unfortunately most parts were closed when I had been there last year in May) but also the Neues Museum which is close by. You could buy a combi ticket for both museums.
At the Neues Museum is the bust of Nofretete but also provincial Roman finds and one gladiator helmet and matching greaves of a murmillo as well as a small gladiator statuette etc.

Looks really great, I was just at Pergamom this summer and currently in Germany, I need to find my way back to Berlin, was there in 06 and very impressed.

When i was there at the last time, i didn't have time to visit the Pergamon&Neues Museum -- just got there some books and went to the Vorgeschichtliches Museum - it is good to visit, too and the Egyptian Museum, too. I saw all of them because i was in Berlin many times.

I've never been to Germany, but this could be an inducement.
