I have a question about the pugio scabbard in the middle of This photo of the pag127 of the book "weapons of the romans"of Feugere(this one whit mithologic scene)
Some persons tell me that it is a false.....how know someting more about? is a false or not?there is some immagine of the original?

This is a scabbard that I have made in the past along with a dagger for it, and I was also told that it was false.
When I made the scabbard I was incorrect for I made it from repousse' (raised relief) and it is simply an etched surface, however the person I made it for has learned that it is not false. In the Feugere book there is mention that there is no provenance or find spot for this scabbard and I have heard one story that it is a forgery.
This is indeed not the case for it is genuine but my friend who has told me it is cannot get hold of anymore information about it, he is trying to discover where it is so when I find out more I shall let you know about it.

This scabbard plate is 100% genuine, it is a brass plate with an engraved design and mentioned in this older post it is kept in the Louvre Museum
