Weight of Roman armour question - Anonymous - 01-19-2005 Are there any re-enactors (?) around who can tell me the weight of Roman armour/kit? I don't want to specify a period to limit the field. I don't know if hand hammered iron would weigh more/less?<br> <br> The butted round-wire ring hamatas at about 25 pounds are apparently much heavier than Roman hamata, that is, the butted flat rings similar to Eric Schmidt's reconstructions.
