Torc construction - Doc - 02-25-2012

There are certain torcs that are made of a twisted bar while there are others made from many thin strands and then twisted in once great torc.

However, there are torcs like this one from Roma Victrix that appear hollow. Are they hollow cast or solid cast? Could they be made from fours parts i.e. the two terminals and an upper and lower part of the torc that is then soldered together followed by the terminals?

If hollow cast, how thick would the metal have to be.
What diameter would be appropiate. I was thinking along 1cm.

I also found this other gold one and it appears to be a think sheet beaten into shape. If you look at the left side, it appears that it was made in two parts (there is a joining line?).

Hi Paolo,
the torque that you found on romavictrix is hollow.
Consists of a hollow circle on which are welded the two head in a solid cast.
This is a model that I have in the works for a lot of months and always return.

Now do not remember exactly the measurements but I think the diameter of the hollow tube is greater than a centimeter.
