I forget..was there a decision about RAT on FB, Google +, and other sites? I was thinking the names should at least have placeholders.

Agreed. Ancient Warfare is on FB, so are many many members as well as groups.

I've set Roman Army Talk up as a group on Facebook, and made Jasper an Admin; not sure how many of the rest of you are active on FB.

I looked for it as Roman Army Talk and couldn't find it. I also tried by adding 'Group'. And I tried RAT.

Although the RAT community here has social networking features, it seems most of us don't use them much. Facebook is nice because it is a bit more relationship-oriented than topic-oriented. If your friends with someone, you can banter with them about projects or news stories. This conversational feel isn't expressed on a Forum very well.
It can also be very good for marketing, as others have mentioned. I'm a member of a non-profit, and we were in the danger of closing down because we couldn't get any support from the local community. We opened a group on Facebook and now have 800+ members, and our real-world events are packed. Facebook is very good at getting the word out.
