Helmet research - Anonymous - 03-14-2005 Hello everyone, I'm doing a research paper over greek armor, the Corinthian style helms in particular. I was wanting to know, is there a specific name for that style helm or if anyone could refer me toward some good literature I could use for resources. Any help would be appreciated.

Brian

Re: Helmet research - Matthew Amt - 03-14-2005 It was my understanding that the Greeks actually called that syle "Corinthian"! (Imagine us using the correct term for once, eh?) Unfortunately, I have no idea what ancient source that might be from. Or even if it's correct...

Good luck, though! It's a very strange little story, but that doesn't matter; the helmet is still called 'Corinthian'.

"Before they let them fight, they join together to dress up the prettiest of the current generation of young women at public expense in a Corinthian helmet and a set of Greek armor, mount her on a chariot, and take her around the lake."

kune/hi Korinqi/hi in Beta-code Greek, or roughly, kynei Korinthei.

|
