LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - Narukami - 06-30-2012 If only LEGO would release sets based upon ancient Greece & Rome. Perhaps, if this event proves to be popular, they will. We can hope. http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/art-and-design/i-came-i-saw-i-constructed-20120628-213dy.html http://images.smh.com.au/2012/06/28/3410646/art-Lego1-420x0.jpg  Narukami Re: LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - M. Demetrius - 06-30-2012 Are those arch pieces standard, or did he manufacture them special order? Re: LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - Narukami - 06-30-2012 The article does not say explicitly one way or the other, though I am of the impression, based upon what he does say, that he used standard pieces from different brick sets. ''I've really got a new appreciation for the Romans and how they made things. For me, the challenge of making something oval-shaped out of square bricks was mind-boggling.'' Most LEGO stores have a "Brick Wall" with unusual shapes, colors, items, that you can purchase in bulk. Perhaps he was able to find the necessary items there. In the LEGO Star Wars Visual Guide by DK, the designers mention that they are usually given a price point for a proposed set and then attempt to meet that requirement by using as few custom and as many standard bricks as possible while still making the set fun to build. Again, my hope is that LEGO will see the efficacy of producing a line of sets based upon ancient Rome. I think it would be a big seller. Narukami Re: LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - jvrjenivs - 06-30-2012 Well, he's named as being an Lego certified professional, which thus means he has access to get unusual shapes in bulk easily. Re: LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - Vindex - 06-30-2012 Either way its still impressive. I note that one of Rome's plastic legionnaries features - having his photo taken with tourists LOL! The Arch of Constantine isn't bad either. Re: LEGO Does Ancient Rome ... Flavian Amphitheatre - M.
