roman comic books - Goffredo - 12-11-2001

Hi, I was in a good book shop the other day and came across a series of "comic book"s by fancy and talented artists. Most were Science Fiction and Fantasy with some pseudo-medieval stuff. Of course there was the usual erotic art too. The Fantasy/Medieval stuff triggered a memory of mine. I remembered seeing some time back a comic book based in Northern Italy during Roman expansion against Gauls. The gaulic settings, costumes and warriors were well drawn (at least from what I, ignorant, can tell) but the romans were terrible (e.g. Hollywood-like officer helmets and lorica segmentata three centuries before Christ; maybe that is why I forgot about that comic book). The question is: does anyone know of good roman based comic stories? This could be a good alternative to movies. There could be a market for well documented and correctly drawn stories based in roman-barbarian scenarios.

Now, now, fellows... let's give Wow the benefit of the doubt... but please all, no advertising unless it's Roman in nature. I'll permit this one once, since it furthers those who might want to find historical comics.
