I read about this a while back. Sadly, the whole thing seems to have taken off and is now reported to become a film. Read about it here.

I don't think the Romans would have much that would stop a bullet, particularly heavy machine guns, etc. Hand to hand, without guns, they would win easily against Marine knives, I reckon.
But the Romans had lots of people, and supply would be a horrendous problem for the Marines. I don't foresee a movie that makes tons of money or wins awards, though. Might be fun...I'll wait for the DVD.

It seems filmmakers run out of good ideas, as if there aren't enough historic battles they could turn into a movie.y
