roma spqr in second life - petrus cornelius - 07-23-2012

Hi I'm new in this forum. I belong to "ROMA SPQR": a virtual community in "second life" where we reenact the XIII Legio Gemina. We try to be as accurate as possible, despite the limits of the environment. We have fun, but we have also educational events. If anyone is interested, I can describe better this experience, give addresses and whatever can be useful to you. Valete!

Re: roma spqr in second life - petrus cornelius - 07-26-2012

"Second life" is more than a game: it is a virtual environment where people can decide to set worlds according to their desires, even building components by themselves. The "avatars" can go everywhere, react with the objects and the other avatars in the setting, talk, fly, dance and every kind of animation. There are, in it, also other ancient themed worlds, celtic, minoan, or modern ones, like dancings, shops, sci-fi places... Our place is the oldest among the ancient themed, we are now in our 6th year of activity. So I can say we developed a true roman culture: many of us create objects, weapons, roman dresses and houses, trying to be historically correct. The percentage of time you spent in Roma or in other places, the level of involvement, from the pure fun to the archeological or historical interest is totally up to you.
