Sir John Keegan has died.
Keegan's "The Face of Battle" deeply influenced certain military historians, such as Hanson, Goldsworthy, Sabin, Zhmodikov, and others in application of his methods to mechanics of ancient battles.

Sad news - we seem to have lost a lot of highly respected historians this year all at once!

Not only a noted scholar and writer, but one with an impressive personal life as well.
His voice will be missed.
