Quote:Sponsored by National Geographic Society in 2007-2008, the Stanford Alpine Archaeology project has been tracking Hannibal's intrepid march in 218 BCE with an army and elephants over the Alps since 1996.

I think that sentence could use some editing. At first I thought Stanford had an army and elephants in the Alps for the past 16 years.

But the project sounds pretty cool!

Confusedhock: Confusedhock: Confusedhock:
WHAT !?
You say Stanford DID not have an army up there ? :???:

O.K. , seriously , that finer irony of that english translation escaped my view.
But yes indeed -- that project deserves wider recognition.
(I'm not sure but they might have done some minor coverage on german TV -- I'll go after that as time allows)

Meanwhile
